Scope

This module is about the skills and knowledge required to work effectively with your local community - this includes activities of both formal and informal nature such as: Planning community events Conducting inspections Information and education Campaigns - local and national focus Working with other community safety based organisations Liaison with allied agencies in your community Consultation and review with local authority, council, sponsors, industry and other formal organisations

Skill Objectives

Communication Communicate effectively with a wide range of people, taking account of diversity and different information needs of the variety of groups and individuals within your community. Promotion Present a positive image of your organisation, increase community awareness of your organisation's services and ways in which effective working relationships can assist effective delivery of that service.

Knowledge Objectives

Awareness of your community, its structure, demographic make up, geography and development plans
The services provided by your organisation including limitations of delivery
Your organisations objectives and goals and how these impact on your local community
Your role and responsibility in contact with individual and group members of your community
Legislation and statutory requirements relevant to the type of contact with your community
Sources and support for community funding and how to access these
Local strategic partnerships and their inter-relationship with your organisation
