Scope
This module relates to personal skills in managing, motivating and supporting groups in a training and development setting. The module focuses on personal style and perceptive skills
Skill Objectives
Communication skills
The ability to listen, paraphrase, explore and encourage through questioning and feedback skills and personal presentation in a positive and objective way
Perception
How to identify and respond to a range of behaviours from individuals and groups. How to interpret the cause and effect of interactions and to manage these with a balance of sensitivity, empathy and assertion
Problem solving
The ability to explore and consider issues raised, identify specific issues to be resolved and encourage joint generation of possible solutions, using information from a wide range of sources
Thinking outside the box
The ability to encourage and stimulate discussion of the broader context and wider implications

Theories, models and techniques for improving and managing communication such as NLP, EI, TA
Methods, techniques and activities for moving discussions and activities forward
